Winnies father died several years ago. Her mother moved to Kasungu - more than 100 km. away - and since she moved there has been very little contact with the mother. Unfortunately Winnie got in Octobre 2016 the message that her mother was killed in a car accident in Kasungu.
Winnie lives with her grandmother (mother's mother) togehter with her 3 younger siblings. The family makes a living by doing piece farming (day labour on other peoples land). Winnie tries to supplement the income by collecting and selling mushrooms and firefood. Usually she goes to school without breakfast.
In 1st class she had great school results. Second class' results have a lower level. She is in 3rd class school year 2017/2018.
